Saw Lars von Trier's Antichrist at the IFC in the city on Friday.
.....
^ my reaction after the movie. it was...affecting. in what way, im not positive. Although there were a couple graphic scenes featuring genital mutilation, the emotional plague and build up the three beggars (grief, pain, despair) and the outcome is what was disturbing. It struck me as misogynist but coming across from a woman."She" while doing research for her thesis on GYNOcide and the history of Witchcraft, convinces herself that her own gender is evil. The cinemtography was beautiful and was shot in "weird, pulsating, muted digital color ".William Defoe was amazing as usual, and Charlotte Gainsbourg was perfectly casted and always struck me as witchy... I think from here on after, the sound of falling acorns and cute foxes and deer will probably freak me out, after all Nature is Satan's Church right?.
